“Täpp are breaking down classical music and restructuring it into a sound that celebrates both old and new, chipping away at the notions of stereotypes and shattering expectations in the process.” Bestnewbands.com

A dynamic and experimental loop pedal music collective lead by violinist Rebekah Reid, Täpp craft unique sounds through live looping and improvisation, creating original music without end - No limits, no boundaries.

Täpp initially launched in 2017 as a string loop pedal duo and has now evolved into a collective of artists from across the UK keen to push the boundaries of music.  Täpp combine traditional and contemporary string instruments and techniques with electronics and modern instruments to create distinctive music that explores a multitude of genres. Their music covers an eclectic range of musical styles from classical music, jazz and trad. folk to electronic dance music, beats and bassline, alt.rock and world music. Täpp aim to stimulate your curiosity, breakthrough stereotypes, and awaken a new music movement.

Collectively the ensemble draws inspiration from artists such as Bach and Paganini, Eddie South, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Aphex Twin, Fourtet, Soulwax, Flying Lotus and Erykah Badu to name a few. Their music explores the interplay between jazz harmony/improvisation and classical composition, producing a unique tonal narrative that captures your imagination.

“Täpp charmed the audience with their warm and full string sounds, presenting a mix of contemporary classical music, jazz, electronic dance music and folk. The use of loops made their arrangements clever and innovative, while the duo spread a great energy and feel among the crowd.”  Review from Nonclassical label ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition 2018.

Täpp’s music crosses boundaries and defies the stereotypes of what is traditionally expected from classical or historical instruments. Their music is original and future forward. Their sound is immersive and their creative process is captivating to watch and listen to. They’re able to recreate a number of varying sound worlds; from ambient neoclassical soundscapes and film soundtracks to uplifting house beats and West African inspired polyrhythmic creations. Their music is versatile and speaks to a large and diverse audience.

The ensemble have performed extensively across the UK since 2017. They’ve performed at Band On the Wall, Manchester Jazz Festival 2018 and have featured on Worldwide FM and BBC introducing. They were runners up in the Nonclassical label ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition in 2018 and were Jazz North Artists 2018-2019. In August 2018 they launched 'Täpp Fest’; an independently curated music festival set in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
